Daqin Railway Co. Ltd (601006), linking Datong, a main coal mining base in Shanxi province, and Qinhuangdao port, the biggest coal transport port in China, is a lifeline for China’s west-east coal transportation project. The company transports 16% of all coal transported on the country's railway system. With a 200 million-ton transport capacity, it is the largest railway dedicated to the transportation of coal in Northern China. As China's rapid economic growth will push up coal demand, the company will further consolidate its vital position within the industry by expanding its transport capacity.

As a railway company mainly providing coal transport services, the company now transports coal for five major power generation companies, and more than 380 main power plants in China.
