Shenzhen Chiwan Wharf Holdings Limited disclosed today that the company has realized cargo throughput of 5.44mln tons in August 2007, 18.7% up compared with the same period last year. Chiwan Harbor and Mawan Habor areas accomplished a container throughput increase of 23.8% compared with the same period last year, Chiwan Harbor area achieved container throughput increase of 7% compared with the same period last year; bulk and general cargo throughput was reduced by 1.8% compared with the same period last year.

As of the end of August 2007, the company has realized cargo throughput 38.93mln tonnes, 13.7% up compared the same period last year. Chiwan Harbor and Mawan Habor areas combined accomplished container throughput of 3.9Mln TEU, an increase of 16.8% compared with the same period last year. The Chiwan Harbor area achieved a container throughput 2.793mln TEU, an increase of 0.2% compared with the same period last year; bulk and general cargo throughput was 4.727mln, a reduction of 9.6% compared with the same period last year.

Meanwhile the company added two new international shipping line calls to its roster, bringing the number of calls up to 64.
