Datang International Power Generation Co. Ltd is engaged in the operation and construction of power plants, sale of electricity and thermal power, maintenance of power equipment as well as power technology services. The company has four power plants in operation and 17 power generation companies under its management, with a total installed power capacity of 3,202 megawatts and 4,398 megawatts in 2007 and 2008 respectively. In addition, the company plans to double its installed power capacity within the coming five years. It has participated in a number of coal mine projects in Inner Mongolia, Shanxi and Hebei provinces in China, with a total designed production capacity of over 60 million tons of coal, accounting for 50% of the company's demand for coal. To date, the company has invested RMB 16.2 bln in total in the Duolun coal chemical project, which will be put into production in 2009.

As one of the largest independent power generation companies in China, Datang International Power was listed in Hong Kong and London in 1997 and was approved to issue ADRs in the US market in 2001.
