First to Break into USC Steel Tubing Market

After eight years of research, the company's S30432 stainless steel tube product, designed for use in ultra-supercritical boilers, recently passed a technical review, making the company the first in China to master this technology. The review also breaks the long-held monopoly of foreign firms specializing in the technology.

The ultra-supercritical boiler technology is an advanced coal-fired power generating technology that is commonly used in Europe, the U.S., Japan and other developed countries. It can reduce coal consumption and environmental pollution and will become the development focus of Chinese coal-fired power unit construction in the future. Stainless steel tubing for ultra-supercritical boilers is needed to construct superheaters and reheaters, both core components of an ultra-supercritical boiler. For each ultra-supercritical boiler, more than 800 tons of stainless steel tubing are needed.

At present, the company is moving forward with its on-site technical appraisals at the Harbin and Dong Fang boiler factories, as well as market approval for related products. The company's special steel branch is also working on related quality control systems and production line optimization strategies for future mass production. Two other pieces of steel tube heat treatment equipment have already been installed and they will commence operations by the end of 2008.
