TCL CORPORATION (000100)

Unrelenting LCD TV and Cell Phone Sales

The company's recent sales report shows that it sold 458,800 LCD TV sets in Sept 2008, representing a 189.5% YOY increase. 1,208,100 cell phones were also sold during this period, a slightly lower figure than that for the same period in 2007.

For the first three quarters of 2008, the company sold 2,693,200 LCD TV sets and 10,263,800 cell phones, respectively 1,911,200 and 2,457,600 more than in the same period in 2007. As expected, the company's performance in the first three quarters of 2008 is moving forward steadily. A major global color television manufacturer, the company has decided to develop its LCD module project and to expand its market share.

Cell phone industry insiders believe that the company has found a path to success via its international operations, enabling it to stave off unrelenting price wars in the domestic market and to sustain stable sales growth. Considering the global economic crisis and the appreciation of the Chinese currency, Chairman Li Dongsheng declared that the company's business strategy will not change. With both LCD TVs and cell phones raking in revenue in overseas markets, the company can prosper by focusing on performance management and cost control.
