China State Shipbuilding Co. Ltd is engaged in the business of shipbuilding including warships, auxiliary vessels, conventional oil tankers, bulk carriers, LNG carriers, VLCCs, roll on-roll off passenger freight ships, large LPG carriers, various civil ships and offshore engineering facilities. The company is also involved in the production of marine and non-marine equipment as well as steel structure fabrication. It has 60 subsidiaries and associated institutions, including a number of ship building and ship repair yards, research and design institutes, marine-related equipment manufacturers and trading firms. The company exports its products to more than 50 countries and regions around the world.

The company aims to rank No.1 among the top shipbuilding enterprises worldwide by 2015, with a focus on developing shipbuilding facilities such as Changxing Island in Shanghai and Longxue in Guangzhou. The company plans to upgrade its production capacity from four million dwt to fourteen million dwt by 2015.
