According to a notice from China Unicom Group., the company's controlling shareholder, China Unicom Group has increased its holdings in the company from 12,874,318,375 shares, equal to a 60.74% stake, to a 12,924,318,307 shares, equal to a 60.97% stake, after acquiring 49,999,932 shares of the company, equal to a 0.23% stake, on 24 Sept 2008 through the trading system provided by the Shanghai Stock Exchange.

China Unicom Group plans to increase its holdings in the company by no more than 2% of the company's total shares outstanding, including the above-mentioned 49,999,932 shares, within the next 12 months and concurrently commits not to sell its holding during the statutory period.
