The company was informed by China National Petroleum Corporation (CNPC), its controlling shareholder, that on 22 Sept 2008, CNPC acquired 60,000,000 shares of the company. Following the increase, CNPC holds a total of 157,982,077,818 shares of the company, equal to an 86.32% stake.

CNPC plans to increase its stake in the company by up to 2% in the next 12 months (the aforementioned increase included), either in its own name or in the name of persons acting in concert. CNPC pledges that it will not decrease its holding of shares of the company during this period.
