Shanghai Automotive Co. Ltd. (SAIC) is engaged in the manufacture of automobiles and automobile parts. In Sept 2007 the company announced that it had completed an asset reorganization and stock listing, upon which its main business shifted from the manufacture and sale of automobile parts to assembled cars of original design.

Currently the company conducts the following business operations:

1. Research and development, manufacture and sale of assembled automobiles

2. Manufacture of automobile parts that are closely related to its auto assembly operations, including dynamic assembly systems, chassis and electronic systems.

3. Automobile financing

SAIC has become the largest automobile maker in the domestic China market.
